In winter, many people gravitate toward warm, musky fragrances, but summer calls for something lighter. It's no surprise that this month, companies are offering a fresh crop of lotions, soaps and sprays that promise the sweet fragrances of fruit.
Los Angeles-based Scent Bar, known for its unique fragrances from around the world, has created a bath and body collection for Target available this month. Exotic fragrances include notes of ruby pomegranate, blackberry, Sicilian orange and lemon. Body wash, lotion, body mist and body butter are priced at $10 or less.
Also this month, luxury beauty brand Kiehl's — there's a counter in the Dillard's store at Fayette Mall — launches its Aromatic Blends body products. Exotic scent combos include orange flower and lychee, vanilla and cedarwood, Nashi blossom and pink grapefruit, and fig leaf and sage.
If you're craving the scent of berries, crumble a bit of The Comforter bar from Lush into your bath for a bubbling soak with the aroma of black currant. Another plus: Lush products are handmade using organic ingredients. The Comforter is $9.95 at Lushusa.com and Lush stores, including the counter inside Macy's at Fayette Mall.
Sometimes we need a break from all the great fragrances available in everyday lotions and soaps. The C.O. Bigelow Lemon Body Cream, $19.50 at Bath & Bodyworks, is a regular top-10 pick on beauty must-have lists as a long-lasting moisturizer with a subtle scent.
