Lexington's public aquatic centers and pools will now accept credit cards for admission and at concession stands.
Lexington Parks & Recreation partnered with Kentucky Interactive LLC to establish a secure payment system. The project included equipping each site with new computers and Internet connectivity for credit card processing.
In a statement, Mayor Jim Gray said, "With the option of paying for admission and concession stand snacks with the quick swipe of a credit card, we're making it easier and more convenient for families to enjoy their experience."
The four aquatic centers — Castlewood, Southland, Tates Creek and Woodland — will open Saturday. Neighborhood pools — Douglass, Shillito and Picadome — will open May 30.
