Next to the patio and the swimming pool, one of my favorite spots to spend a summer afternoon is at an outdoor craft and art fair.

One of the loveliest locations to shop is at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg.

The Shaker Village Craft Fair this weekend features regional artisans, including new artists. You'll find Shaker reproductions and other merchandise made of clay, metal, wood, fiber, basketry and glass.

Dozens of vendor booths will be in the main village, and there will be pottery, glass and woodworking demonstrations as well as the Plein Aire Painters of the Bluegrass. Music will be provided by the Jessamine Station Dixieland Band and Gone Fiddling.

Fair hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday Admission, which includes tours of Shaker Village, is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and younger.
