Starting Tuesday, Belle Maison Antiques will have a final sale of current inventory, with all items reduced up to 50 percent. The shop, in Greentree Close at 525 West Short Street, has been open for 13 years.

Sale merchandise will include antiques, fine furniture, artwork, chandeliers and decorative accessories.

Debbie Chamblin, who owns Belle Maison with her husband, Tony, says they will announce plans for a new business venture soon.

■ Berea author Katie Startzman is touring the area with her new book, The Knitted Slipper Book (STC Craft). A launch party is 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Robie Books in Berea. From 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Startzman will be at Rebelle Yarn Shop in Lexington signing copies and showing samples. On Nov. 8, she'll be at Joseph-Beth Booksellers from 7 to 9 p.m. signing the book.

■ Sisters Lori Tackett and Kathi Adams have a business in Lexington called Fresh Furnishings. They reclaim older furniture, freshen it up with Annie Sloane Chalk Paint and sell it in their shop at 145 Burt Road, No. 8. Since they both have other jobs, the store is open only 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. A barn sale back in the spring on a friend's farm in Lexington was a big hit, and they'll try it again this weekend: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 4925 Keene Road.

Jerome Boutique, 153 Patchen Drive, will host a trunk show of two designers. From 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, there will be a reception for Lindsay Jean- Marie, who makes custom crochet and knit sweaters and accessories. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jean-Marie will return with Marlene Knight of Boot Dazzles, accessories for boots, shoes and ankles.

Stalls Antiques & Interiors at 930 Winchester Road will host open houses during October. This week's is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and will feature vintage costume jewelry, equine art and memorabilia.

■ The Derby Shoppe and Raggs in Danville will celebrate it's 37th anniversary with a week of trunk shows and door prizes. Events Wednesday will include a Geiger trunk show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a Mere-Kate Jewelry trunk show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. A Clarks trunk show will be 10 a.m. to 6 Thursday through Oct. 19. Cake and punch will be served Wednesday and Thursday, and there will be discounts all week and daily drawings for door prizes. The store is at 124 and 126 North Third Street in Danville.

■ The Audubon Society of Kentucky and Buckley Hills Audubon Society will hold their biannual seed sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Oct. 19 at Southern States Lexington Cooperative, 2570 Palumbo Drive. It will include sunflower seed and kernels, seed mixes, nyger, millet, safflower, peanut hearts, corn and suet cakes. Southern States also will offer a 10 percent discount on specialty packaged bird seed, bird feeders and assorted bird feeding equipment. Purchase seed and take it with you or leave it at Southern States to be picked up by the end of March.
