When the days are short and the nights are long, there’s no better way to brighten a party outfit than with sparkling accessories. Jeweled hair clips, metallic headbands and crystal pins will add shine to any look, and not just for the holidays.

You don’t have to go all out when it comes to festive dressing; just a touch will do. H&M at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass in Simpsonville offers gold-colored hair clips, $9.99, with tiny star bursts of rhinestones. Slip one or two into a messy bun.

The Galanteries bobby set, $34 at Anthropologie at the Mall at Lexington Green, features six gold-colored hairpins accented with crystals and stones. Wear one or two together to accent a sleek, side part or sprinkle throughout a party updo.

Perhaps you already own a vintage rhinestone brooch. Choose one that’s not too bulky so as not to weigh down hair, secure it with hidden bobby pins and you’re ready for that champagne toast.

Take inspiration from fall and spring runway shows, where designers featured elegantly tousled hair accented with unique headbands, clips, sticks and more. For fall, Chanel featured modern French twists adorned with metal pins and ribbon hair bands. At Marc Jacobs, textured updos were accented with pearl and crystal barrettes for spring 2016.
