A Lexington sandwich shop on Main Street has closed.

The Jimmy John’s at 333 East Main closed last week.

Orders for delivery have been re-routed to the Jimmy John’s at 105 North Mill, which opened in January.

Though the sidewalk to the east of the store was blocked for much of the year, owner Billy White said that construction along Main Street wasn’t the main factor in the closing. The business has shifted to primarily to delivery, just as was the case with the campus-area sandwich shops, White said.

The Jimmy John’s on South Limestone closed in May, shifting business to the Euclid, Waller and Mill locations.

“No delivery areas will be impacted, we’ve already remapped downtown to be covered,” White said.

The move away from sit-down restaurants to those focused primarily on delivery mirrors the national trend.

“We’re always been over 40 percent delivery,” with some locations much higher, White said. “Now everybody’s doing it.”
