If you want a final meal at the Jerry's in Mount Sterling, better move fast. The restaurant closes Wednesday.
Those who grew up in Kentucky during the '60s, '70s and '80s are likely to know the Jerry's menu by heart. If you were a good kid, you got to finish your meal with a piece of the restaurant's coveted hot fudge cake — basically, a devil's food ice cream sandwich topped with a pond of hot fudge and a maraschino cherry.
The chubby Jerry's waiter on the restaurant sign welcomed you with a warm orange glow and a bulging belly into parking lots where you could comfortably lodge your 19-foot 1975 Cadillac Coupe de Ville.
Jerry's restaurants might be a dying breed, but some still thrive. The Jerry's in Paris continues to welcome a hearty crowd every day.
