Kevin O'Connor, co-founder of Lioco Wine, will be a guest at the Holly Hill Inn Wine Guild's winemaker's dinner Wednesday. O'Connor and Matt Licklider founded Lioco in Santa Rosa, Calif., in 2005. They specialize in carefully crafted chardonnay and pinot noir. Lioco was recently named a Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine.

Swimming in chocolatiers
Professional chocolatiers will be at the Hyatt Regency Lexington next week to swap secrets about making chocolate.
Retail Confectioners International, the non-profit trade association serving the chocolate and confectionary industry since 1917, will hold its 90th annual convention in Lexington. Don Hurt, owner of Old Kentucky Chocolates, is co-chair of the event.
The Food Channel will come along with the group to document behind-the-scenes tours of three regional chocolate companies: Old Kentucky Chocolates, which specializes in 100-proof Jim Beam bourbon products; Rebecca-Ruth Candies, the inventor of bourbon ball chocolate candies; and Schimpff's Confectionary, which will show how its famous red hot candies are made the old-fashioned way on century-old equipment.

The Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street, Louisville, will host its 18th annual Taste of Frankfort Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m. June 27.
Cuisine from 27 of Frankfort Avenue's signature restaurants will be featured, along with ice sculpture and cooking demonstrations, wine and beer samplings, and live entertainment.
