It's hard to look past the Kentucky Derby, but Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner — on Tuesday, in fact.
■ Good Foods Co-op, 455 Southland Drive, will have a special menu on the hot buffet from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., including mole bean enchiladas, mashed potatoes with poblano peppers, arroz rojo (red rice), cabbage tinga, pinto beans refritos, beets piña colada and esquitez (corn with red peppers) for $8.49 a pound. ■ Coba Cocina, 2041 Richmond Road, will begin the celebration Friday: They're doing Cincas Dias de Mayo, five days of specials, including drink specials. On Saturday, they'll have the Mezcal Mule; on Tuesday, margaritas.

■ Kentucky Ballet Theatre and Maker's Mark, 3350 Burks Springs Road in Loretto, will present Bourbon & Ballet, a performance and celebrity chef bourbon dinner by Jonathan Lundy at the distillery, at 6 p.m. May 9. ■ Hudson Hollow, 13 Carson Place in Frankfort, will have a Derby Day breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Fare will include country ham, hot browns and quiche Lorraine. ■ Distilled at Gratz Park, 120 West Second Street, will have a special Mother's Day menu May 10, featuring diver scallops, roasted pork loin or coffee-rubbed filet for $45 a person from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For reservations, call (859) 255-0002.
Distilled also has a new spring menu, featuring warm-weather treats including strawberry buttermilk soup; melon and berry salad; russet potato gnocchi with peas, asparagus and favas; honey baked ham shank; and bacon-wrapped duck breast. Every Wednesday, Distilled serves fresh pies and cakes made by Donna Heard.
■ Kentucky State Parks will offer a Mother's Day buffet on May 10 at all resort parks. The menu includes salad bar, fruit, cheese, roast beef, roast pork with apple dressing, chicken and dumplings, fried catfish and hush puppies, vegetables and desserts. ■ Tickets are on sale for the annual Taste of the Bluegrass, 7 to 11 p.m. May 15 at Keeneland's Keene Barn and Entertainment Center.
