Cardinal Hill telethon raises more than $400,000

The 39th Annual Cardinal Hill Hospital Telethon raised $405,456 in pledges on Sunday.

"It's very rewarding," said Jenny Wurzback, director of community relations and the Cardinal Hill Foundation. "Pledges came from all over the state."

Wurzback said she had hoped to raise $350,000.

Thoroughbred horse owner Marylou Whitney and her husband John Hendrickson donated $100,000 to the hospital, Wurzback said.

The telethon aired on WKYT in Lexington and WYMT in Hazard from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Money raised through the telethon will go toward ongoing patient services, Wurzback said.
