With the number of confirmed flu cases in Fayette County now at 57, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is providing more chances to get a flu shot this week.
Shots will be available 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Public Health Clinic, 805A Newtown Circle. No appointment is necessary.
The cost of a flu shot is $25. Medicaid/Medicare, cash, checks, credit cards and some insurances are accepted.
The expanded hours are for one week only and end Jan. 25. Then the department returns to providing flu shots at 3-5 p.m. Tuesdays at the public health clinic.

The seasonal flu shot is recommended for all people six months and older. Last year, Lexington had 143 confirmed cases of the flu.
