Central Kentucky Christmas Tree Farms are ready with trees, wreaths, garland and more

It's time to bring home this year's Christmas tree. Local farms offer many varieties, including Norway spruce and Fraser fir, so you're sure to find the right one for you.

We've gathered a list of area tree farms to help you get your search started.

Central Kentucky

Fayette County

Barker's Christmas Tree Farm. 1470 Deer Haven Ln., Lexington. Choose-and-cut Scotch and white pine, Canaan and Douglas firs. $32-$100. Wreaths made fresh from the farm in three sizes. Tree stands. Trees are shaken to remove needles, and help is available to load your tree. Hours: 3:30-6 p.m. Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sat., Sun. Directions: From Man o' War Blvd., take Todds Rd. 1.8 miles out of town, past the Interstate 75 bridge. Turn left on Deer Haven Ln. and go about 3/4 mile; farm is on the right. Christmas Memories Tree Farm. 4890 Keene Rd. (Ky. 1267), Lexington. Choose-and-cut white and Scotch pine and Canaan fir, $35-$100. Saws, twine and help loading trees provided. Hours: 9 a.m.-dark Sat., 2 p.m.-dark Sun. through Dec. 20. Directions: From Man o' War Blvd., go 1.7 miles south on Harrodsburg Rd. Turn onto Military Rd. Bear left on Keene Rd. (Ky. 1267). Drive 4 miles, and trees will be on your left. Contact: (859) 223-1140.

Nieman's Tree Farm. 5100 Sulphur Ln., Lexington. Choose-and-cut Fraser and white fir and white pine. 5- to 6-foot tree $60, 6- to 7-foot tree $70. Trees are up to 16 feet tall. Balled and burlapped (to plant) blue and Norway spruce, white pine and white fir. Saws available; farm will cut and load tree for you. Portable restroom. Hours: 9 a.m.-dark Sat. and Sun., 3 p.m.-dark Mon.-Fri. Through Dec. 21. Directions: From Man o' War Boulevard, take Todds Road 3 miles out of town, turn right on Sulphur Lane. Farm is on the right. Clark County

Yuletide Tree Farm and Nursery. 3925 Old Boonesboro Rd., Winchester. Cut trees available: white pine, Douglas fir, Norway spruce. Balled and burlapped trees: Norway and blue spruce. You-cut trees, $35; balled and burlapped trees, $45-$72. Wreaths, garland and a gift shop. Hours: 1-5 p.m. Sun.-Fri.; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat. through Dec. 21. Directions: From Lexington, take Interstate 64 to Winchester, Exit 94. Turn right on Bypass Road, then right on Ky. 627 (Boonesboro Rd.). Go to Old Boonesboro Rd. Garrard County

Cathole Bend Tree Farm. 1243 Cathole Bend Rd., Lancaster. You-cut and balled and burlapped trees available. Norway, blue and white spruce; white pine and Canaan fir. Prices starting at $15. Hours: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Fri.-Sun. Through Dec. 21. Directions: Take U.S. 27 to Ky. 52 in Lancaster, turn west toward Danville and go 0.8 mile. Turn south on Ky. 1150 (Old Danville Rd.) and go 2.8 miles to the bridge across Dix River. Don't cross the bridge. Drive straight down Cathole Bend Rd.; the road ends at the farm. Madison County

Baldwin Farms. 1113 Tates Creek Rd., Richmond. Trees grown on the farm: Norway, blue and white spruce, and white pine. Cut your own tree (bow saws provided) or farm will cut it for you. All cut trees grown on the farm $50, any size, even big trees. Fraser firs from North Carolina priced individually. Balled and burlapped trees start at $55. Other items include wreaths, garland, mistletoe kissing balls, salsa, honey and jams. Hours: 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily through Dec. 22. Woodford County

Bob's Tree Farm. 108 Gaybourne Way, Versailles. You-cut firs, blue spruce and a few white pine. Saws available. Trees up to 12 feet tall $40. Smaller trees priced accordingly. Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Sat., 1-5 p.m. Sun. Through Dec. 24. Directions: From Lexington take U.S. 60 west about 8 miles to the traffic light at Huntertown Road. Turn left onto Huntertown Rd. and it's the fourth house on the left. Contact: (859) 873-1800.

Castle Hill Farm Winery. 3650 Lexington Rd., Versailles. Pre-cut Fraser firs, $35-$55. Three sizes of wreaths, garlands, gift baskets. Hours: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. daily through Dec. 24. Directions: From Lexington take U.S. 60 west. There are two entrances on the right, a driveway immediately before the Marathon gas station. Campbell County

Hilltop Pines Tree Farm. 7379 Stonehouse Rd., Melbourne (about 10 miles southeast of Cincinnati). You-cut trees, $30; live trees start at $35. Directions: From Lexington take I-75 North and then I-275 East. Take Exit 77 towards Maysville/Wilder. Go right off the exit onto Ky. 9. Take a right onto Ky. 547 toward Silver Grove. Turn right onto Four Mile Road. Take a right onto Ky. 1997 for about 1 mile, and the tree farm will be on your left. Contact: (513) 673-8415.
