The Lexington Visitors Center, which moved to Victorian Square in May 2012, has seen a record number of visitors in the first six months of 2013, when the center moved into a street-front site.
More than 10,000 visitors — a 170 percent increase — have stopped by to inquire about Bluegrass tourism opportunities, according to the center.
Julie Schickel, Lexington Visitors Center manager, credited the more visible location for increased foot traffic.
The center features information on horse attractions; bourbons of the Bluegrass; historic attractions; a "Top Ten List" of activities and sites; and information about regional cuisine, unique restaurants, wineries and craft breweries.
