Matt Jones’ new weekday talk show on WLEX-TV (Channel 18), titled “Hey Kentucky!,” is scheduled to debut at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 on LEX18.
The show features the founder and host of Kentucky Sports Radio and “will take local talk to a whole new level,” a news release from the station stated.
The new show was announced in August. Jones said then that the show would be something like ESPN’s rapid-fire sports discussion show “Pardon the Interruption,” with hosts Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon.
But the focus of Jones’ show will go beyond sports, the news release states, to include “the things that are on your mind right now. So sure, UK sports will be a big factor, but also politics, what’s happening around the state, whatever is going on that sparks real conversation. And we’ll have fun with it.”

The show will feature co-hosts whose presence will be dictated by subject and expertise. WLEX-TV president and general manager Pat Dalbey said the show will include former UK stars, political figures, “whoever can lend a provocative voice to driving an engaging and lively debate with Matt.”
“Hey Kentucky!” will be “unlike anything currently in our market. Matt has a huge following on radio and online, and this new venture exposes him to an even greater audience,” Dalbey said.
