Lexington has made another "best of" list.
Southern Living has named Lexington one of the top 10 "Best Cities in the South" in its annual list.
Charleston, S.C. claimed the top spot, which was also the top city in 2017. Other cities on the magazine's list include the usual suspects: Savannah, Ga., Asheville, N.C., Nashville and Chattanooga, Tenn. Lexington was 10th.
Lexington was also named one of 16 "prettiest cities in the South" by Southern Living.. Louisville did not make either list.
VisitLex, the city's tourism bureau, said they were notified by Southern Living of Lexington's designation in late March.
Lexington continues to climb in many "best of" and "top ten" lists in recent months. In April, U.S. News & World Report ranked Lexington 21st as one of the best cities to live in the country.
Kentucky's second-largest city's up-and-coming food scene has also drawn a lot of ink and attention.
In December, Zagat, which lists the top restaurants nationwide, picked Lexington as 26th in its survey of the “30 Most Exciting Food Cities in America.”
