HopCat craft beer bar to open in The Square on Oct. 24

HopCat, the craft beer bar in The Square, will open at 11 a.m. on Oct. 24. The bar will feature more than 30 Kentucky-made craft beers on tap and will offer free HopCat "crack fries" — beer battered fries served with signature cracked pepper seasoning — to everyone that day.

And the first 200 people will get a card good for a free order of crack fries every week for a year, according to the company's announcement.

The opening date is contingent on getting the necessary final state and city permits.

HopCat Lexington, which will be the seventh for the Michigan-based chain, says it will feature Kentucky's largest draft beer selection plus a full menu serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Hiring is under way inside The Square for a variety of hourly positions.

Said Mark Sellers, the founder of HopCat: "At this new two-story location, we are creating a unique showcase for Kentucky's craft brewers where friends can gather for a meal, watch a game or just grab a great beer."
