An iPhone primer: The rush is on tonight

The iPhone is released at 6 p.m. today, and here’s much of what you need to know.

It’s available at AT&T corporately owned stores, Apple stores and Apple online.

Nine AT&T stores within 50 miles of Lexington will carry it.

AT&T stores close at 4:30 p.m. before reopening at 6.

Stores will have at least one extra sales associate working.

If stores run out, customers can pay for the phone there and have it delivered at home.

The phones cost $499 for a 4-gigabyte model and $599 for an 8 GB one.

Use iTunes on a PC or Mac to activate the iPhone.

AT&T has a 14-day return policy for the phone. (If the box is open, it charges a 10 percent restocking fee).

The least expensive service plan is $59.99 a month.

The most expensive is $219 a month.

All plans include 200 text messages, unlimited data services, monthly rollover minutes and mobile-to-mobile calls.
