More than 176,600 people are employed in the tourism industry in Kentucky, earning more than $3.46 billion in payroll, according to an annual report compiled by the Travel Industry Association in Washington, D.C. Nearly $7.25 billion was spent directly by domestic travelers in Kentucky in 2007. Combined with indirect spending, the total value of the tourism industry totals $10.72 billion.
