Lexington Surgery Center, an affiliate of Surgical Care Affiliates, is one of 56 endoscopy units in the United States to be granted recognition in 2009. The Lexington Surgery Center opened in 1981 as the first free-standing ambulatory surgery center in Central Kentucky. In 2008, the center performed approximately 4,400 gastrointestinal procedures.
