Ceradyne Inc. has received a $12.1 million order for ceramic body armor to be delivered by mid-2009 to the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia.
The order was made under a three-year federal contract issued in 2007. The company said more orders for the armor, known as enhanced small arms protective inserts, are expected this year.
The armor is worn by U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is made by Ceradyne in Lexington and in California.
Ceradyne also said Friday that it will announce its 2008 financial results on Tuesday. The stock trades on Nasdaq as CRDN.
