A catering contract for the Kentucky Horse Park that included the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games has been canceled because the interested caterers didn't have the required scope, according to documents from the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet.
Lundy's Special Events, which has secured previous Horse Park contracts and Behind the Scenes Catering and Events of San Diego, Calif., which has worked at past Olympic Games, both submitted proposals.
Horse Park Director John Nicholson said that because the day-to-day needs to the Horse Park will be so different from that during the Games, that the contract will be split into two separate bids. One bid will be ongoing for the Horse Park. The World Games Foundation, a private, non-profit group that is running the Games, will look for a separate company to provide catering for the 16 days of competition.
