Kentucky hospitals that serve a large share of low-income or uninsured individuals will be able to share in a $3.5 million federal grant.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Friday announced that Kentucky can access an additional $3.5 million authorized by the economic stimulus plan covered by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The eligible hospitals are known as disproportionate share hospitals. States receive an annual allotment to make payments to these hospitals to account for higher costs associated with treating uninsured and low-income patients.
