Convention bureau pays you to bring meetings to Lexington

The Lexington Convention & Visitors Bureau announced Monday that the first 100 residents to alert its staff to organizations that might bring an annual meeting to the Bluegrass will receive $100 each. The offers runs for the next 100 days.

It's part of the bureau's group of Hometown Hosts, residents who give the bureau a referral that helps it land a meeting that books 50 room nights at area hotels.

A room night is a measure of hotel occupancy that is the equivalent of one hotel room being occupied for one night.

People who generated qualified leads will also be entered in a contest to win a $1,000 gift certificate.

All referrals should be sent to Dennis Johnston, vice president of sales, who can be reached at 244-7712 or
