The annual cost for a room in a private nursing home in Kentucky typically ranges from $63,875 to $72,818, with Lexington roughly in the middle at $67,525. The data comes from a survey of long-term care costs by financial services firm Genworth Financial.
Louisville ranks lower, with expected costs of $66,613. Genworth says Owensboro has the highest costs in the state.
Costs in Kentucky, though, are cheaper than the national average of $74,208, or $203 a day. But costs are rising faster in parts of Kentucky. Nationally, costs have increased 4 percent annually since 2005. In Lexington, Genworth says costs have gone up 10 percent, and Owensboro has risen 7 percent.
