Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway announced Thursday that his office has filed a consumer-protection lawsuit that aims to stop numerous calls from a telemarketing company selling extended automobile warranties.
The calls have been made to numbers on the nation's Do Not Call Registry and have included false, misleading and deceptive acts, according a news release from Conway's office.
The calls typically have telemarketers telling consumers their vehicles' warranties are about to expire and that they can buy additional coverage. They have been made to both land-line and cell phone numbers.
The company, SVM Inc. in Nevada, has been sued by other state attorneys general. To report a violation of the Do Not Call Registry, call 1-866-877-7867 or go to www.nocall.ky.gov.
