Ceradyne has received a $7.3 million order for ceramic body armor parts known as enhanced small-arms protective inserts.
The inserts will be made at Ceradyne's Lexington armor plant and shipped by the third quarter to the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, a supplier to the military.
Ceradyne is based in California and has ceramics plants in Lexington that make military and industrial products.
