Lexington Farmers Market is adding a midweek afternoon market in Cheapside Park, starting Wednesday. The hours will be 4 to 7 p.m.
Market manager Jeff Dabbelt is working on a head count of how many farmers will participate and said "upwards of a dozen" have expressed interest.
"This will be a great opportunity for downtown business people to take advantage of fresh offerings midweek," he said.
There is another Wednesday market at Lexington Green at the same time as the new downtown market.

Cheapside is also the site of the large farmers market on Saturday mornings.
This brings the number of Lexington Farmers Markets to six.
There are markets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at South Broadway and Maxwell Street, and a Sunday market on Southland Drive.
The number of markets speaks to the "growing demand for fresh vegetables," Dabbelt said. Farmers are always trying to look "for that incremental growth that is solid and sustainable," he said.
