Two fillies brought the top prices at Sunday's session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
John C. Oxley, who raced 2001 Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos, bid $370,000 for a dark bay filly by Street Cry out of Manda Island. Street Cry is also the sire of Derby winner Street Sense.
Stockplace paid $270,000 for a dark bay filly by Forest Wildcat out of Feature Article, a daughter of Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew.
Through Sunday, the sixth day of the sale, a total of 1,196 horses had been sold, bringing in a total of $150,942,000.
The average price at that point in the auction, which continues through Sept. 28, is $126,206. The median price is $80,000. At the same point in last year's sale, 1,413 horses had been sold for $262,472,200. The average price was $185,755 and the median price was $125,000.
