Big Ass Fans has several reasons to celebrate this holiday season. The company's Isis fan, an 8-to-10-foot diameter commercial-grade ceiling fan, has been selected as an Interior Design Best of the Year: Product Design honoree in the Eco Products category. Isis conserves energy by reducing the dependence on heating and cooling systems in commercial spaces. The company's 12-to-20-foot diameter commercial-grade ceiling fan, Element, has been named a winner of Building Products Magazine's Green Products award. Element works in conjunction with HVAC systems to help distribute conditioned air while decreasing energy consumption by up to 25 percent. The company's two newest industrial products, PowerfoilX and AirGo, are both finalists in the Plant Engineering Product of the Year award in the HVAC category. Results will be announced in April 2010.

Conjuna Collier, administrator of Tanbark Health Care, has received the Northern Bluegrass District Administrator of the Year award by the Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities.

Blood-Horse editor Dan Liebman has received the University of Kentucky College of Communications Outstanding Alumnus award. A Kentucky native and graduate of the UK School of Journalism, Liebman taught a class titled "Writing for the Equine Industry" in the journalism school. He has served on the school's advisory board and sponsored the school's annual Bid For Brains fund-raiser. Liebman, 50, joined Blood-Horse publications in 1993 as research director and became executive editor in 1998.

Lexington-based Roland Legal PLLC has been chosen to represent Kentucky on LexisNexis' Workers' Compensation Law Center Top Cases blog. As part of that designation, LexisNexis has renamed the Kentucky worker's compensation section of its web site "Kentucky Worker's Compensation Powered by Roland Legal." As the state representative, Marcus A. Roland will be the exclusive provider of content on Kentucky workers' compensation issues and notable cases for the Law Center. Professional engineers Tyler Wilson and Whitley Casey, of Shrout Tate Wilson Consulting Engineers, have successfully passed the Certified Energy Manager examination and have been granted the CEM designation by the Association of Energy Engineers.

The Kentucky Art Education Association has presented George Szekely, a professor of art education at the University of Kentucky Department of Art, with the commonwealth's first Distinguished Fellow Prize. The new award recognizes Szekely's lifetime achievement in the field of art education. A professional artist and art educator, Szekely writes the regular column "Children's Art Diary" for Arts and Activities Magazine and has published more than 100 articles in journals and magazines in the U.S. and Canada. He is also the author of 10 books.
