State partners with Microsoft for job training

State officials announced Wednesday that Microsoft will provide 20,250 vouchers to Kentucky residents for free online training and certification on certain Microsoft products.

The software giant will work with the state Office of Employment and Training to distribute 9,000 vouchers for online training, 9,000 for online testing and 2,250 for more advanced training courses, according to a news release.

Vouchers can be used for training on Microsoft Windows or one of the products in the Microsoft Office Suite. The training is online and can be accessed by any Internet-connected computer. The testing vouchers allow for certification exams to be taken at proctored locations available at community college around the state.

People can sign up for multiple courses, but they can only do so after completing a previous course. State government employees are not eligible to participate.
