Verizon Wireless upgrading Ky. network

Verizon Wireless announced this week that it will spend $7.8 million in Kentucky in 2010 to upgrade the data capacity of its 3G network.

The project involves installing equipment on cell towers to increase the data capacity by as much as 26 percent, according to a news release.

The company is spending $29 million overall in Kentucky this year on projects that include the addition of new cell towers.
