Gambling revenue fell 5 percent in '09

Gross gambling revenue nationwide fell 5 percent in 2009, to $30.74 billion, according to the American Gaming Association, which released its annual industry survey Thursday.

The survey collects from data from the states on how much money the casinos took in, not the total amount bet.

According to the survey, racetrack casino gambling revenue rose 5 percent to $6.4 billion, due to new casinos in Indiana and Pennsylvania.

Despite the increase in gambling revenue, the number of jobs at racetrack casinos fell slightly, 0.1 percent, to 29,025.
