The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission on Tuesday will consider a request by Keeneland to hold a race this fall featuring Arabians.
The race would be part of the President of the UAE Cup Series announced in April by the Emirates Equestrian Federation.
The plan is for the series to open later this month at the Abu Dhabi Irish Guineas Festival at The Curragh in Ireland and conclude at Keeneland's fall meet.
"We are thrilled to have the ongoing support of our existing racecourse partners such as Newmarket, Ascot, Paris and Moscow, as well as introduce the series at highly prestigious racetracks such as the Curragh and Keeneland," said Taleb Al Muhairi, EEF general secretary, in a release.
The series also is designed to promote Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates as a tourism destination, and so at each race Etihad Airways and the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority will give away a trip for two to Abu Dhabi.
