Ky. teen wins national entrepreneur contest

A Kentucky teen has won the national Girls Going Places Entrepreneurship Award program sponsored by Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America.

Chelsey Schlosnagle, 17, of Pleasureville was honored for owning and operating a free-range egg business, Chelsey's Gourmet Pasture Eggs, for five years. The eggs are distributed through specialty health food stores in the Lexington and Louisville areas. She received a $10,000 prize.

Chelsey plans to attend the University of Kentucky to study agriculture education and political science and eventually go to law school, according to a news release from Guardian.

Fourteen other girls were also honored in the competition, which recognizes girls ages 12 to 18 for their entrepreneurship and community service.
