Flap over seedling advertising resolved

A company marketing tree seedlings in Kentucky has agreed to pay $25,000 to the state to resolve complaints of misleading advertising. South Carolina-based ArborGen Inc. stated in its catalog and Internet promotions that all species of its "SuperTree Seedlings" were genetically improved. However, according to a statement from the office of the state attorney general, the majority of the species were "grown from commercially purchased seeds and are not improved."

The company has not admitted wrongdoing, according to the statement, but has changed the assertions in its catalog and on its Web site.
