Chipotle expands anti-junk e-mail campaign

Chipotle Mexican Grill is asking people to forward their junk e-mail to the company.

Chipotle will make a donation to The Lunch Box, a non-profit organization that encourages healthier school lunches, based on the number of e-mail messages forwarded to nojunk@chipotlejunk.com.

Chipotle will donate $10,000 for every 100,000 e-mail messages it receives. The chain originally said it would donate as much as $50,000, but it reached that goal quickly, and now the company has increased its possible donation to $100,000.

People who forward e-mail "will have the opportunity to opt in to Chipotle's e-mail list, learn more about Chipotle and its commitment to serving 'Food with Integrity' on the company's Web site, or link to TheLunchBox.org," the company said in a news release. Chipotle says the content of the e-mail sent through the campaign will not be read, and "no e-mail addresses will be automatically captured."
