Education

Financial Research Institute at the University of Missouri: Herbert A. Miller Jr., president of Columbia Gas of Kentucky, has been named to the institute's advisory board. Established in 1988 within the College of Business at the University of Missouri-Columbia, FRI is an academic research institute designed to promote education, research and services across various areas of finance.

Finance

Academy Mortgage Corp.: Jason Heflin has been named branch manager of the company's new Lexington office.

Central Bank: Rebecca Haddix has been hired as assistant vice president/underwriter for Central Bank Mortgage. Tom Francis has been named vice president/ commercial insurance for Central Insurance Services.

Summers, McCrary & Sparks: James R. Whitten has been named a shareholder of the accounting firm.

Health care

Eastern Kentucky University's Bluegrass Community Health Center: Dr. Steve Wrightson has been named medical director of the primary health care center with two locations that serve residents of eight Central Kentucky counties. The Bluegrass Community Health Center was established by EKU in 2001 as a migrant farm worker health center.

CMD Health: Tim Reynolds and Kim Williams have joined the company as sales/quoting specialists. Lesley Morgan has joined the company as director of operations.

Law

Stites & Harbison: Chrisandrea L. Turner has joined the law firm as counsel and is a member of the firm's creditors' rights and bankruptcy service group.

Organizations

Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road Council: Mary Beth Wright of Messer Construction Co. has been named to the council's board of directors. Wright is also co-leader of a Girl Scout troop.

Lexington Advertising Club: The following have been elected to serve as officers on the board for 2010-11: Brian Clark, Asphalt Institute, president; Debi Williams, Dealer's Financial Services, president; Otto Pittner, Copy Express, president-elect; Cheri McMullin, Parkway Developers, ADDY vice president; Bill Dotson, WebMedley, membership vice president; Michael Voss, Fifth Element Creative, treasurer; Jane Ashley Pace, Lexington Herald-Leader, secretary. The following have been named to the board of directors: Adam Martin, Martin Design Studio; Susan Andrews, free-lance marketing consultant; Jeff Hancock, Cornett IMS; Norma Wirt, Post Printing Co.; Heather Clary, Better Business Bureau of Central Kentucky; Beth Barnes, University of Kentucky.

Coldstream Laboratories: Larry Kranking has been named president and CEO of the largest sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Kentucky. Kranking, who comes to CLI from Aveta Lifesciences-USA, has 38 years experience as a pharmaceutical executive, leading startup companies and implementing innovative regulatory strategies. Kranking will lead a staff of 70.

Lenco Excavation: Mike Sallee has returned to the firm as senior project estimator and planning director.

Topping Commercial Services: Jack D. Hanks has been named sales, marketing and public relations director for the Flatwoods-based company that specializes in commercial cleaning and painting.
