A biotech company that is working on a non-surgical treatment for back problems has relocated from Austin, Texas, to the University of Kentucky Coldstream Research Campus, according to a news release.
Orthopeutics L.P./Intralink Spine Inc. will receive $408,000 in state funds to match federal research grants. Three employees — including the company's chief scientific officer, who will hold a joint UK faculty appointment in engineering and medicine — have moved to Lexington. Additional high-tech positions are likely to be created as the company begins manufacturing.
Orthopeutics/Intralink Spine is working on "an injectable tissue revitalization reagent for the treatment of degenerative disc disease and related lower back pain," according to the release.
