Women Leading Ky. events focus on equine

Women Leading Kentucky's three winter roundtable luncheons will focus on the equine industry. The group announced recently that its speakers will be:

■ Jan. 20: Former Herald-Leader racing writer Maryjean Wall, who will discuss her book, How Kentucky Became Southern: A Tale of Outlaws, Horse Thieves, Gamblers and Breeders.

■ Feb. 16: Nick Nicholson, president and CEO of Keeneland.

■ March 17: The group has invited Jane Beshear, wife of Gov. Steve Beshear and a lifelong equine enthusiast, to discuss eventing, competitions and fox hunting.

The roundtables run from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the banquet facilities above Sal's Chophouse, 3373 Tates Creek Rd. They cost $35 each or $100 for all three. Registration is required and can be done online at Womenleadingky.com or by mailing a check to Women Leading Kentucky, P.O. Box 961, Lexington, Ky., 40588.
