A nationwide scam involving restaurants has hit Central Kentucky. The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department warned Monday that some restaurants, primarily ethnic ones, are being contacted by people claiming to be from the department who ask to set up a time for an inspection and threaten fines for not agreeing. Callers also ask for sensitive information about the restaurants and staff. Although the department does inspect restaurants and other food establishments, employees do not call ahead, the department said in a statement.
