Blue Grass Airport boasted its third-largest passenger count in history last year. The airport served 1,104,558 arriving and departing passengers in 2010, up 19.3 percent over 2009.
The airport attributed the increase to a number of new flights, including those from AirTran Airways, which began offering flights from Lexington in February. The airport also saw increased traffic around the time of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in the fall.
The highest passenger counts in the airport's history were 2004 (1,168,397) and 2003 (1,142,086).
