The Lexington metropolitan area's gross domestic product — a measure of the total value of goods and services produced in an area — was $22.1 billion in 2009, according to recently released data by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. That's down about 1.9 percent from the almost $22.6 billion in 2008. The result ranked Lexington 91st among the 366 metropolitan statistical areas.
