Animal-health company Neogen revealed more details Tuesday about a previously announced expansion in Lexington that will add 75 jobs during the next several years.
The company, which has had operations in Lexington for more than 20 years, has offices on Nandino Boulevard and Creative Drive and employs nearly 130 people. The Creative Drive office will be consolidated into a new 100,000-square-foot plant on Mercer Road.
"We're thrilled to be able to stay and grow within Lexington," Terri Morrical, Neogen's vice president of animal safety, said in a statement. "For quite some time, we had been clearly outgrowing our facilities, and we investigated many alternatives, both near and far, to best suit our expanding needs."
The company's local animal safety division manufactures and distributes products including pharmaceuticals, veterinary instruments and diagnostic equipment. Globally, the company has more than 600 employees.
Last month, state officials approved $2 million in tax incentives for the company's $5.66 million expansion. The tax-incentive agreement calls for the jobs to pay an average hourly wage of $20, including benefits.
