The University of Kentucky, University of Louisville and Eastern Kentucky University have teamed up to launch a prescription benefits program for university, college and public sector employers.
Called the Kentucky Rx Coalition, the group is a purchasing collaborative, taking advantage of its bigger size for volume purchasing discounts, according to a news release.
The group announced in a news release that the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System will join it beginning in 2012 and anticipates saving $11 million annually.
The universities modeled the organization after a similar one in Ohio led by The Ohio State University. To learn more, visit Kyrx.org.
