Lexington Center is adding a museum and gallery to its list of attractions, which include Rupp Arena and the Lexington Convention Center.
The Lexington Center Museum and Gallery will open Sept. 10 in the space formerly occupied by the University of Kentucky Basketball Museum. The inaugural show will be Bodies Revealed, a touring exhibit featuring carefully preserved specimens of the human body, showing how the body functions and the impact of disease and unhealthy lifestyles on the body. The exhibit pieces are in many cases in athletic poses, to allow viewers to better relate to what they are seeing.
Bodies Revealed has been a hit around the world and will be on exhibit for four months at Lexington Center. It will be the first exhibition of the show in Kentucky.
Gallery hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays through Sundays, starting Sept. 10 and continuing through December. Tickets will be $14 for ages 19 and older, $11 for ages 4 to 18 and free for ages 3 and younger. Tickets will go on sale soon, according to a news release, and will be available at the Lexington Center Ticket Office (859) 233-3535, or at all Ticketmaster outlets.
