ACS plans to hire 700 more employees in Lexington and London as it ramps up to temporarily field calls for companies enrolling workers in health care plans.
But the plans that will be announced Thursday include hiring 200 permanent workers as ACS, which specializes in providing services to other businesses, is bolstering its call center operations for retail electronics companies. The company doesn't publicly identify its customers.
Of the 700 workers to be hired, 650 will be in Lexington and the remaining 50, all of which are temporary, will be in London. The 650 jobs in Lexington will be at its Yorkshire Boulevard and West New Circle Road locations. The 450 temporary jobs in Lexington, which won't offer benefits, are expected to last several months, said spokesman Chris Gilligan. The company plans to hire the employees quickly, and it already has begun to hire some.
The entry-level jobs pay about $10 an hour with opportunities for bonuses based on performance.

A small number of the 200 new permanent jobs in Lexington are managerial.
The workers are spread across two shifts daily, and with the call center open daily, "there will be a variety of days and hours," Gilligan said.
The hirings will add to ACS's stature as a large local employer. Before this announcement, it employed nearly 3,000 people in Lexington and nearly 5,000 in Kentucky.
This newest wave of hiring is part of a series of jobs added nationwide for the company. Dallas-based ACS is hiring 1,500 in Raleigh, N.C.; 400 in Salt Lake City; 160 in San Antonio, Texas; and 200 in Lewiston, Maine.
"We do a good service that companies need and do it better than they can do themselves," Gilligan said in explaining the expansions. "We let them focus on their core business."
The new hires will help ACS continue to fill its newest location in Lexington, on West New Circle Road in space leased from Lexmark International.
The company is spending $10 million to renovate the office space. It has filled the third floor and also occupies a quarter of the fourth floor, giving it "room to grow now and in the future," Gilligan said.
"We're very confident in the existing skill level and are confident we can dig deeper into the talent pool that is here," he added.
