Kristi Runyon, morning and noon anchor at WTVQ (Channel 36), is leaving the Lexington station.

Runyon, who has worked at the ABC affiliate since 1999, is taking a public relations job at the Kentucky Community & Technical College System.

"The news industry, and certainly WTVQ, has seen a lot of changes," Runyon said in explaining her departure. "Some of them have been for the better, and some of them haven't.

"Those are things that however large or small ... affected me every day. When I look at how things have changed and my own professional and personal goals, it was time for me to look at something outside the news business. It's a wonderful opportunity at KCTCS."

Runyon's last day is Friday, and News Director Doug Hogan said the station will be playing historical clips from her time there during her broadcasts. Runyon's replacement, who Hogan declined to name but said is from outside the market, is expected to start Dec. 19.
