BBB again warns of email scam

The Better Business Bureau of Central and Eastern Kentucky is again warning businesses and residents about a fake email making the rounds that appears to be from BBB organizations.

The email, which has become more widespread nationally in the past couple of days, contains a dangerous attachment about what it claims is a recently filed complaint.

The BBB said in a local statement that the organization does not send complaints as attachments. Also, all email about complaints from the local BBB contain the organization's local address and a local phone number with an 859 area code. Many of the scam emails use a Virginia address.

The BBB says businesses or residents should perform a computer virus scan if they opened or clicked on the attachment.
