■ Unified Trust Co. founder and president Dr. Gregory Kasten has been recognized for excellence in financial planning. In its December issue, Research Magazine named Kasten to its Adviser Hall of Fame. Kasten, the author of the book Retirement Success, began his career in Lexington as a practicing anesthesiologist in the mid-1980s. Kasten was dissatisfied with his practice's financial plan and found a new passion as he researched ways to improve it. His efforts led him to create a small business called Health Financial in the basement of his house in 1985. Today, the company, now Unified Trust Co., is a nationally chartered trust company with 95 employees and more than $2.7 billion assets under management.
