Fasig-Tipton's one-day mixed winter sale on Monday in Lexington showed strong increases in numbers and price.
With 100 more horses catalogued this year than last, a total of 267 were sold, up from 183 in 2011, for a gross of $4,562,600, up 61.7 percent. The average price of $17,088 was up 10.8 percent, and the median price of $6,000 was up 5.3 percent.
The buyback rate of 22.2 percent was similar to last year's 22.8 percent.
The highest price Monday was $200,000 for 13-year-old Fancy Prancer, in foal to Bluegrass Cat. She was purchased by Eddie Kane, representing Brad Kelley's Bluegrass Hall.
